“The Ruin” (written in about 1000) is a poem about magnificent town which is devastated now. In past, buildings were lavishly decorated and full of warriors. The speaker imagines that giants (city is built of stone which was unusual in Anglo-Saxon times)  or hundred generations built the city (he isn’t educated), thinks about life that people lived there. This poem says about the power of Fate which is able to destroy even might empires. It also presents the power of God and reminds that everyone will come to the same end (death). From Christian prospective is important whether we were good or bad human.
